Everybody's happy, everyone is made for life... [Mar. 10th, 2011|12:08 pm]

[music |Radiohead - No Surprises]

I'm ok, how are you? Thanks for asking, thanks for asking...

I logged into Live Journal today because sometimes I like to know what I was thinking seven years ago. If only I'd been consistent with this thing I'd have more of a complete picture, but maybe that's for the best. I was really active in the Spring of 2007, but that was mainly because I thought I was in love with Irma. Maybe I was, maybe I wasn't, maybe I just really wanted to fuck her.
I live in Ypsilanti now, and attend EMU (although the future is cloudy because Joel's an idiot) and want to go to law school. I really should proofread a paper that I'm turning in at 2, but somehow I don't feel like it. I'm going to make a Spencer Krug playlist for my Ipod; that is a statement that would've made no sense to me when I last wrote in this journal.
I am complacent and unhappy; I both love and curse existence and the world. I'm alone, but not. I hate organized religion, but i hate god as much as I hate Santa. Going

Cause we're stronger and we don't need 'em... [May. 15th, 2008|11:20 am]

[music |Panda Bear - Im Not]

Life's thunderous silence can sometimes be a good thing. I ran into my best friend from high school while visiting my parents this past weekend. Sean. what a blast from the motherfucking past! I'd stumbled across his myspace page about a week before (I like that Live Journal marks Myspace as misspelled. Jealousy perhaps?) and had sent a friend request. So it's not like he was some totally buried memory at that point. It was just a shock to go to Borders and see him at the register. I couldn't help but laugh. He didn't recognize me at first. I suppose that's fair. What did I buy at Borders you didn't ask? Well, the latest edition of Magnet magazine, mainly because they had a best alums of 07 list, and I'm a sucker for those (Ween was number 1. Interesting.) I also picked up the book 'The God Delusion' by Richard Dawkins. He basically puts forth that atheism is the only rational alternative, and any religious beliefs are to be given no quarter, that they only detract from our quality of life, and truly benefit no one. Thank you someone for saying it. Any sort of worship to a supernatural deity, no matter how noble the intentions, is foolish, and a waste of time. It really helped me get off the fence with my spiritual apathy (agnosticism) and realize that the idea of God is total bullshit. I can't say I reject God, I never embraced him in the first place. Nietzsche wasn't quite right when he said god is dead. God isn't. Never was. And it's foolish and naive to believe otherwise. Still looking for love in all the wrong... well actually, still hoping it finds it's way here. Oh Amber.

I'm at a crossroads. I need to shit or get off the pot. Do I try my hand at flash and try out some Tim and Eric shit, do I go to school to get a real job, do I keep trying to write shitty dance songs, or some other option. I feel like I'm good at nothing. Oh well.

Two additions to the best of 2007 list(they got their claws into me a bit late, still late is better than never):
LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver
Tegan and Sara - The Con

Ah Radiohead. What a great band. They never fail to delight. 16 year career, only two weak spots. 1993's Pablo Honey. Some bands release a great album right off the bat and then slip with every release and some get better with age. Radiohead is in the latter group. Taken by itself Pablo Honey isn't that bad of an album, but like Blur's initial offering, it pales in comparison to the rest of their catalogue. Amnesiac was the other weak point. Positioned as a new album , it couldn't help but come off as a disc full of Kid A leftovers (the alternate version of Morning Bell didn't do anything to sway that opinion). A good collection of songs, but one that was bookended by much better collections. Amnesiac does have some of the most adventurous B-sides of their career though with Cuttooth and Trans-Atlantic Drawl being some of the best songs they've ever released. Favorite Album? The Bends, followed closely by the very underrated Hail to the Thief. Favorite Radiohead song? That's tough, but either Just or the OK Computer B-side Polyethylene Parts 1&2. Done.
